The Safe in the South West program is strengthening the capacity of South West Victorian community in supporting young people who identify same-sex attracted, sex and gender diverse.
Safe aims to improve the health and wellbeing of sexual diverse youth, and help raise awareness of diversity, and challenging attitudes of homophobia, biphobia and transphobia in schools, community services and organisations, and the wider community
The project supports young LGBTIQ+ young people:
-Creating safe places for sexually diverse community to socialise and feel included and welcomed
-Delivering training and models of practice to community and health organisations to improve the health and wellbeing outcomes for sexually diverse young people and their families
-Facilitating safe spaces where diverse young people and their peers can meet regularly- offering social support and ability to increase networks in a fun and inclusive environment
-Advocate and promote needs of the LGBTIQ+ community
