headspace Bendigo Diversity Program

Loddon Mallee

headspace Bendigo is a HEY Project partner which is a Victorian Government funded initiative with the aim to improve the mental health and wellbeing of LGBTIQ+ Young people.

headspace has a dedicated LGBTIQ+ diversity Worker who runs activities and events, educating and raising awareness in the community, at schools and other agencies/organisations in Bendigo.

The LBGTIQ+ diversity Worker also facilitates two support groups for LGBTIQ+ young people. These groups are an opportunity for young people who are gender diverse to meet new people, socialise and build positive relationships. The groups are held in a safe, supportive, inclusive and positive environment where young people can celebrate their diversity.

At headspace Bendigo, we currently have two LGBTIQ+ support groups that operate 2 afternoons a week:

·         Frogs (18-25years) – (Full Range Of Gender and Sexuality), Wednesdays 4.30-6.00

·         Tadpoles (12-17years) – (Trans And Diverse People Openly Loving Everyone’s Sexuality), Thursdays 4.00-5.30

We also run a parent support group for parents of gender diverse young people that is held once a month on a Monday night from 7-8.30.  It is an opportunity for parents/grandparents to meet and share knowledge/information in a safe, confidential and supportive environment. We also have guest speakers who attend and are knowledgeable on gender diversity from their own personal journey or on a professional level.
